We were ordered to evacuate our home with no warning due to an out of control wild fire. The Courtyard by Marriott is in a quiet business area nearby. Clean and updated rooms were available, and the caring reception clerk offered a 50% discount for evacuees when she saw that our home address was local. While breakfasts are no longer included in the room price, the on site Starbucks sells reasonably priced cooked to order breakfasts served in a spacious area off the lobby. We felt we made a great choice without inconveniencing friends or relatives and were home in less than ten minutes the next morning after the evacuation order was lifted.
I would love to give 5 stars -- the room was spacious, clean and everything worked, staff were super friendly and helpful (especially when the "welcome song" on the TV was playing loudly in the empty room next to mine and needed to be turned off). The lobby is EXCELLENT - with plenty of room and small couches/chairs/tables to spread out and meet up with friends or colleagues. The small bistro has a decent number of breakfast selections including steel cut oatmeal. (I didn't look into the other meal options.) But I'm taking away a star because the room doesn't have a microwave, and the lighting is DIM! (I can't resist going into detail on this because it's important to me.) This is particularly annoying in the bathroom sink area. There's a countertop magnifier mirror in the sink area and I had to carry it into the toilet/tub room, put it on top of the toilet tank, and straddle the toilet whenever I wanted to do anything with my face, because that room was the only one that was well-lit. I had to turn on every light in the room (there are several, all dim) in order for the room to feel adequately (though not brightly) lit. Overall, this hotel is completely fine for a short stay but when I visit again I'll probably choose to drive a few miles and stay in a different hotel that has a microwave or kitchenette option and better lighting - even though this hotel is mere steps away from the company where I work.
We really enjoyed this hotel other than the hvac maintenance notices and repeated forced entry into our room starting at 8am even though the flyer sent out by the hotel said 9am. We had to bar our door or else the service team would have walked right into our room. We would have slept another hour had we not been woken up by this noise service team.
We were in the unfortunate situation of being evacuated from the Boulder County fires. The staff at the front desk were compassionate about the situation and we really appreciate the discount offered for the displaced members of the community. We are forever grateful to have had a quiet and clean room with heat and a comfortable bed for the night at a very affordable rate. Kudos to the Marriott for going above and beyond and helping those in need. Thank you!
Great hotel. Clean and well appointed room, very convenient location to shopping and restaurants. On the Boulder Creek trail, which is fantastic for a morning run.
