This is one of those places that has the feel of a local’s spot. The Hungry Toad is a neighborhood favorite and is in a great location just north of Pearl St.
Portions are enormous, so my husband and I split the fish and chips which was delicious and more than enough food. (They were awesome and split the dish for us, something we truly appreciate since some restaurants charge for that.)
Service was decent, but could have been better. There seemed to be more people walking around checking on things than doing things.
I completely understand everyone being short staffed these days, but in this case it seemed like things weren’t quite aligned.

Love The Hungry Toad! New brunch menu is fantastic, and as always, the Guinness pour is as good as I’ve had in pubs abroad. They show Premier League fixtures which is a huge draw for me, and service (even during the busiest matches) is still attentive. Will always come back!

The one thing I love most is when a restaurant goes all-in, and the Hungry Toad does it masterfully. Everything is designed to immerse you in the feeling of being in a genuine British pub - the brick interior, the embossed tile ceiling, the wall art, the food, and the beer. Even the stools and bartop are reminiscent of a storied English pub. Half of the beer is authentically from the isle, including one from a cask-conditioned pump system. I couldn't be happier that a self-proclaimed pub actually feels like one.

Lunch at @thehungrytoadboulder I was very concerned when The Hungry Toad closed for COVID. Then it reopened but not for lunch. I found it reopened for lunch several months ago. Finally was able to try it. The menu does seem a little smaller but the French onion soup and bangers and smashed were very good. The seasonal vegetable was a Brussels sprouts and kale with sweet potatoes that I really enjoyed.
Parking still sucked but I found street parking across Broadway pretty close.

Brunch was perfect, especially the biscuits! The homemade jam was tops. The crunchy eggy toast was beautiful and delicious but the breakfast sandwich blew us away it was huge and so good. I’ll be back to try the biscuits with gravy
