This hotel is dated and needs some upgrades cosmetically but the staff is nice and the breakfast has a good variety. The rooms are clean and tidy!
2 things that I hated: 1) their are NO lights in the parking lot at night. It's extremely dark. Very concerning and dangerous! 2) the doors leading to the balcony are thin and flimsy so the wind banged them around all night long.

Old outdated building near to university at prime location. I was not aware about a complimentary breakfast at the time of booking online. I had enjoyed my stay and breakfast in peaceful atmosphere. Great Staff at reception desk! Overall excellent service and great stay for the price I had paid after comparing with other hotels at this prime location near to university, supermarket and mall.

Not sure why this hotel has such bad reviews. Sure, it is a bit dated but my room was perfectly fine, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean with good water pressure. The location is ideal and a big supermarket is literally just around the corner. Breakfast was included. Plus, it was much cheaper than any other hotels in Boulder. Would totally recommend.

Like another reviewer, I read a lot of bad reviews and was planning to cancel my reservation. I am so glad I decided not to!
Yes, the hotel is older, and areas are showing their age, but the rooms are fabulous, and the location can't be beat. The bed is a true king, not a hotel king. The hotel is so quiet, I have slept incredibly well.
The breakfast is generous and has items you don't normally find, like almond milk and string cheese.
My husband is attending a conference so we are here for a week. I am at the hotel a lot and love it. I feel totally safe. There is a beautiful courtyard, walking trails along Boulder Creek, and shopping and restaurants are a quick walk away. The free internet is great. I have been able to work and attend Zoom meetings with no issues at all.
The pool is clean and kept at a nice temperature. The people are friendly and helpful. You can tell this was quite the upscale place in its heyday.
I absolutely recommend this hotel as long as you don't care about worn carpet on the stairs, some areas needing maintenance, and one non-working elevator.

This place was amazing 10 years ago, but not anymore. Parking lot is crumbling, building is in desperate need of repairs inside and out. Lighting is horrible, hallways are dim, carpets are dirty, walls are marked up and wallpaper is peeling.
I called ahead after making a reservation online to make sure the room had a fridge, as my partner requires medication that must be refrigerated, they said sure no problem, we'll make sure you have a fridge. Get to the hotel, check in, ask again, is there a fridge? Yes, there's a fridge, they say. We get into the room, and there is no fridge. Tried to call down to the front desk, but oops! The yellowing old phone on the nightstand doesn't work, so we had to go down to the desk and ask again. Front desk says maintenance will bring up a fridge. We wait and wait and wait, and the fridge never comes, so we had to find an alternate solution to keep the meds cool. They never delivered the fridge the entire time we were there.
Other observances:
Overheard the couple in line ahead of us at check-in tell the desk clerk that the clerk apparently checked someone else into the room that they were assigned, because the room was occupied when they opened the door.
A young woman walked up to me and my partner in the hallway one day and asked us if we "felt safe" because she was afraid of staying at the hotel due to the way it looked and the bad vibes the place has.
Free breakfast is a joke, you're better off going to the Safeway across the parking lot.
The rooms are outdated. There are no outlets by the bedside to plug you phone chargers in. The TV is very old and picture is horrible. The furniture had white paint splatters all over it. There was an old, unplugged landline phone just sitting in one corner of the room (that also did not work in addition to the phone on the nightstand mentioned earlier). The elevator is old, makes weird noises, and gives the impression you're likely to get stuck in it at some point.
The only benefit to this place is the location, as it's within walking distance of a lot of good shops and restaurants, but do yourself a favor and pay an extra $50 a night to sleep somewhere else.
