The service was great. The room was great. The hotel is in a great location and had easy/affordable parking. The only issue is the food we ordered during room service wasn’t amazing for breakfast. The omelet I ordered really did not taste good to me, and we had no ketchup for either of our breakfasts. We had the burger the day prior and it was very good.
Our stay at the St. Julien was extremely disappointing. My wife and I chose the St. Julien to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We had heard wonderful reviews from friends and family and looked forward to a great stay. We booked a room along with the $150 romance package that included ‘a bottle of curated Champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries’ at check-in. We choose to dine on the terrace for dinner and received terrible service. We had to request a menu and service was extremely slow. The waitress was very inattentive to the point I had to go to the bar to order a second round of drinks after waiting for over half an hour with no sign of our waitress. While we were finishing dinner the fire alarm went off forcing everyone from the building. This did not directly affect us but we felt sorry for the guests that were awakened. Upon returning to our room, we found that the ‘Bubbles and Berries’ were never delivered. The night manager was apologetic but did nothing other than tell us the kitchen was closed, the berries likely wouldn't be ready by checkout the following morning, and so offered an additional credit for use at breakfast. She stated the day-time manager would sort out the details at check-out. The following morning we were rushed at check out and felt they were simply trying to get us to leave. I was told they would sort out the incidentals and email a statement. Not once was I asked how our stay was or if they met expectations. While waiting for the valet I received a non-itemized statement for the full charge with no refunds or credits, so I went back inside to request itemized invoices prior to departure. The final straw came when reviewing the itemized invoices and we found that the waitress from dinner the previous night had changed the tip to increase the amount she received. We immediately called the hotel and spoke with the head daytime manager, who was equally outraged at the waitress' behavior. She initially offered a $100 credit, however we were still frustrated that we had paid $150 for a romance package that was never delivered and ended up coming with a $60 tax on the itemized receipt. The manager eventually covered the cost of our dinner, breakfast, and valet (overall less than $300), however the overall experience has turned us off of this hotel. St. Julien and other Preferred Hotels claim to be 4-stars with a slogan of "Unforgettable. Illustrious. Incomparable...Expect personalized, intuitive service. Renowned dining. Exquisite accommodations. Spectacular spas. Legendary luxury." Based on this stay, St. Julien did not live up to its reputation and we would not recommend staying here.
My deep tissue massage with Andy was out of this world! Exactly what I needed, great communication throughout... just felt like I was in good hands. Michelle who did my first EVER facial was spectacular! Again, excellent communication and really felt like she enjoyed what she does. Highly recommend a good day of treatments at the St. Julien.
Nice hotel in a gorgeous location! Sit a while on the patio and soak up the view of the Flatirons. The view changes throughout the day. This is also a great location for cycling and fly fishing enthusiasts, with a wonderful coffee shop, restaurants, and shops both within the hotel and in the area on Walnut and Pearl streets. Regardless of the duration of your stay, you are likely to wish for an additional few days!
I will start by saying I think this hotel is over-priced...by a lot. But clearly for many people, that is not an issue. ;) I came here as a splurge. I loved it. It is a great building and everything works perfectly. The staff could not be more accommodating. I used the pool and hot-tub...which were amazing. The food was fine. A lovely, high-end hotel. You would not be disappointed.
